Prince of Peace Lutheran Church has the firm conviction that life is meant to be shared. As Christians, we are not meant to live in isolation from others, but rather to be together in fellowship. P.E.A.C.E. Groups provide adults an opportunity to gather together, discuss God’s Word, and support one another on their spiritual journey.
The vision of our P.E.A.C.E. Groups is to be an ever-expanding network of leaders, who create an ever-expanding number of small groups, where people are transformed by Jesus, and together transform the world around them.
What is a P.E.A.C.E. Group?
A P.E.A.C.E. Group typically has between 3-12 people, is led by a trained lay-person, and regularly meets in homes or on the Prince of Peace campus. Each group welcomes new friends and neighbors in the congregation and community to join them at any time.
P — Prayer
P.E.A.C.E. Groups are saturated with prayer. In every meeting, P.E.A.C.E. Group members bring their personal thanksgivings and concerns, joining with and for each other in prayer.
E— Evangelism
P.E.A.C.E. Groups are designed to be outreach-oriented groups, not merely closed cliques. P.E.A.C.E. Groups have an empty chair as a focal point and continually pray for new members to fill their empty chair. As each member actively invites others, it is a natural and planned event for the P.E.A.C.E. Group to “birth” new groups.
A— Apprenticing
P.E.A.C.E. Group leaders mentor individuals for future leadership. As more people join and new groups are formed, the need for more trained leaders increases.
C— Christ-study
P.E.A.C.E. Groups are centered on the Word of God where people can grow in their knowledge of the Scriptures and how to apply them to their everyday life. We prefer the term "Christ-study" to "Bible study" because it reminds us that the goal is not just to grow in knowledge, but to grow in knowing Jesus Christ and to become more like Him.
E— Encouragement
P.E.A.C.E. Groups are positive, uplifting environments where believers encourage one another in their walk of faith and in their personal life struggles.
Types of Groups:
We have four general types of groups: Women’s, Men’s, Couples and Mixed. (Mixed groups include a mix of men and women, single, married, widowed or divorced.) Like individuals, each group has its own personality based on the interests of the people in the group, what social activities the group enjoys, or what service projects they undertake to make a difference in the world. Some specific women’s groups are mothers of young children that meet on the Prince of Peace campus during the day while the children are cared for in the nursery. Some couples groups bring their children with them to group while other couples groups meet without children. Still other groups, are people whose working years are behind them and the group reflects their new lifestyle. Whatever it is you are looking for, we encourage you to find a group you connect with.
When and Where Do They Meet?
Groups meet on all different days of the week at various times and locations. Some meet weekly and some meet twice a month. See the following pages for details and a complete listing .
How do I Join a Group?
Browse the directory on the next pages and see what day and time fit your schedule best. Then simply call the leader to get more specific information about their group and the date of their next meeting. The leader can also help you with directions to their next meeting, explain how childcare is handled for their group, describe what they are currently studying, and answer any other questions you may have. Feel free to simply visit the group and try it out before you actually join it. In fact, we encourage you to visit a couple of groups to see where you are the most comfortable before you decide to join one.
